Kitchen Appliance FAQ’s

Why do you only recommend certain manufacturer’s appliances?2020-04-28T10:43:07+01:00

We’ve spent a long time carefully selecting our appliance manufacturers, based on quality, style, quick delivery timescales, warranty, great after-sales service and price. We feel that the appliances we offer cover a huge variety of functionality and style and are very competitively priced.

Do you recommend integrated appliances?2020-04-28T10:43:58+01:00

Aesthetically, integrated appliances are great if you are wanting a very streamlined kitchen. Some people prefer to opt for freestanding appliances as there is a general belief that these are easier to change at a later date. As we offer a service to replace your old integrated appliances for new ones then this no longer needs to be a deciding factor in your choice of integrated versus freestanding.

Do you provide a warranty with kitchen appliances?2020-04-28T10:44:32+01:00

All our appliances come with the manufacturer’s standard warranty – this varies between 1 and 5 years. Our Siemens Studioline appliances now come with a 5 year warranty.

Can I control my kitchen appliances remotely?2020-04-28T10:45:54+01:00

It’s easy to think that kitchens are fully evolved, but with the onset of the Internet of Things, our world is becoming increasingly smarter by the minute.A lot of the newer appliance models are now wifi enabled meaning that you can control them from a central app or via Alexa. You can tell Alexa to switch on your coffee machine and make your latte, check the fridge from the shop, send a recipe straight to your oven, ask Alexa when dinner will be ready and even monitor the on / off status of your hob, so no more having to go back home to make sure you switched it off!

Will you show me how to operate my kitchen appliances?2020-04-28T10:46:49+01:00

Yes. Once we have installed your new appliances we will make sure that you are able to get up and running with them. We’ll talk you through the basic functions and controls and make sure that you understand how to operate everything. If you then want some more in-depth knowledge about how to use your appliances to their maximum, we run quarterly cooking demonstrations here in our showroom where you can come and chat to our home economist about all your questions. We can also arrange for our home economist to come and see you in your home for a small fee. We are always just a phone call away if you have any questions at any time – just let us know.

What happens if there is a problem with my kitchen appliance?2020-04-28T10:47:44+01:00

We can be your first port of call if you are experiencing any problems. We will try and ascertain what the issue may be and then suggest the best course of action to get it resolved for you quickly. We have made sure that all our chosen appliance manufacturers offer a fantastic after-sales service. If there are any issues with your appliance you can call the manufacturer’s service number (that we provide you with upon installation) and they will arrange for an engineer to come and assess the issue. This is a free service if the appliance is still covered under its warranty.

What height should ovens be installed at?2020-04-28T10:49:19+01:00

This is dependent upon what the room will allow layout wise and also on each person’s comfortable working height. We recommend having the ovens at waist level if at all possible. This means that you are not bending down to the oven and are not reaching up to lift out hot things above shoulder height. If you need more than 1 oven then the best configuration is to have both ovens side by side, to bring them both to the same working height.

What are the best types of extractor to use to maximise the reduction of odour?2020-04-28T10:50:38+01:00

Vented hobs are the best type of extraction to minimise cooking odours. These are hobs where the extractor is built-in to the hob itself. They draw off odours and grease particles directly from the cookware. This prevents cooking vapours from rising up and spreading annoyingly throughout the whole room. This gives you 100% clean-rate at head height, meaning that the innovative motor technology guides vapours directly to their destination, and stops them from invading your living space.

Are overhead extractors now considered dated?2020-04-28T10:51:44+01:00

Whilst some overhead extractors still have their place, generally they are considered to be a bit outdated and constraining. The vented hobs give you far more flexibility, in terms of getting away from having sharp corners and obstacles at head height, not having to stoop to work beneath them, no steam to block your view or steam up your glasses and far more design freedom. The vented hob allows you to work more socially on islands and peninsulas rather than facing a wall, or even in front of a window.

What happens if my current kitchen layout doesn’t have adequate plumbing or electrics for my new appliances?2020-04-28T10:52:48+01:00

We can recommend plumbers and electricians who can upgrade the room to the required level for you. This can be quite straightforward so there is no need to let your current plumbing or electrical situation put you off newer appliances.

Do you dispose of my old kitchen appliances?2020-04-28T10:53:31+01:00

Mostly. Legally we are unable to dispose of fridges or fridge freezers. These need to be collected by your local council. We can remove and dispose of everything else for you.
