The client wanted to move away from their existing range cooker to a built-in high-level oven to make cooking more comfortable with less bending. We blocked up an existing doorway and moved a radiator on the left wall to allow us to bring the mid-height appliance bank onto this wall. This allowed us to install a wide gas hob with wok burner with plenty of pan drawer storage underneath. The appliance bank in mid-height cabinets was to suit the client’s preferred working height but it also helped create a sense of space by not having cabinets up to the ceiling.
The client wanted the kitchen to feel more connected to the rest of the house, so we changed the entrance way into the room to wide glazed doors. The new flooring now runs from the entrance to the house, through the hallway and into the kitchen, create a continuation of space and flow throughout the house. Splashes of colour were incorporated through the glass wall coverings and accessories displayed on the floating shelving.
